1.       January and February Minutes: Approved on motion by G. Jones, seconded by S. Ketchum

2.       Treasurer’s Report: Written report attached. Some large one-time expenses, such as insurance, put the total as temporarily negative.

3.       Communications: Duke got alternative price for newsletter that includes folding and addressing, and which cuts cost nearly in half. We can get a ‘ghost number’ from the Post Office that will allow MABA to use bulk mailing rates of about 16 cents per copy plus a small handling charge. L. Medcalf volunteered to contact the Post Office about the ‘ghost number.’

·         Will send e-mail that non-renewed members will be dropped from the mailing list.

  • April edition will be sent by e-mail for the first time.

4.       Activities:

·         Potluck dinner went very well. Expenses have been paid.

·         Next Event: Pickin’ Picnic at BPACC on 3 May.

5.       Regulatory: Audit completed, but report has not been received.

6.       Membership: Discussed need to send mailer to non-renewed members.

·         22 renewals, 8 new memberships.

·         Total: 176 members plus 9 honorary members.

7.       Education: Absent, written report attached.

·         17 March – vocal harmony workshop

·         14 April – rhythm guitar workshop

·         TBD May – mandolin workshop with John Gay

8.       G.R.A.S.S.: Absent, no report.

9.       Welcoming/Caring: 3 cards sent this past month. Prepared and sent a special card to Brent signed by Potluck Dinner attendees.

10.   Other Business:

·         Discussion of having a festival with opportunity for camping and cabins for extended jamming. Gordon and John Gay are working on ideas.

·         Donation Responses: Discussion about asking Welcoming/Caring Committee to write thank-you notes to donors who contribute to MABA. Loyce Smith agreed to do so.

·         Awards Committee: Need to remember to set up committee next year well before the Potluck Dinner. Peter Smith volunteered to chair the committee. Wayne has the picture of Gary Williams that was misplaced this year.
