MEMBERS MEETING
December 14, 2006

President John Fitzer called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm
John began by thanking everyone for helping-out during 2006. Special thanks was given to John Gay and Karen Hudson for organizing MABA events.
12 members were present.
Secretary’s Report: (Bob Waters). The November Minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: (Larry Bomar). The November Treasurer’s report was approved.
Liability insurance bill received from Zurich Group-Nashville for 2007 coverage.
Committee Reports:
Communications – Duke Walker (no report)

Yahoo News Group – Mike Albert (no report).
Website – Keith Carter
Website is up to date.
Activities – Gordon Jones and John Gay
Benefit concert for Brent Davis is scheduled for January 6TH between 4:00 and 10:00 pm at Grace Crossing Church in Collierville. John Gay will bring a chili pot. A silent auction will be held. Larry Bomar will have CDs to donate. Candice Windham has made flyers and will distribute them at MLGW where Brent works.
The Annual Gary Williams Potluck dinner will be held on February 24th at Woodland Presbyterian Church. Thanks to Mark Winborn for arranging this venue again. A motion was made and passed to ask Eric Mitchell to provide barbecue again for the event.
John Gay has talked with the people at the Baptist Camp in Cordova about having a MABA weekend bluegrass festival sometime in 2007; they seemed interested in hosting this event. A series of workshops would be planned during the festival.
Regulatory – James Johnson
Sales tax return will be due in January.
Membership – Maureen Fitzer
One new member joined MABA during November. Eleven renewals have been received for 2007.
Education – Jennifer Eggers
Claire Lynch and Missy Raines have been contacted to put on workshops in 2007.
GRASS – Beth Mays
Maureen Fitzer reported that Christmas toys were bought with GRASS funds and donated to Reelfoot Lake Ministries run by the Methodist Church.
Lucy Opry – Beth Mays and Woody Marshall
Great Lucy program for 2007 includes Grasscals, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Charlie Sizemore, and Cedar Hill. A motion was made and passed for two tickets to be purchased by MABA for the folks that tend the MABA table.
Welcoming/Caring – Loyce Smith, Jo Edith & James Hudson, Erna Wheeley
Nine cards were sent out this month. A total of 40 cards were sent out in 2006.
A check for $100 will be given to LOL custodian Jay Rodriguez in thanks for helping MABA at the Saturday jams.
President elect, Keith Carter, informed us that Evergreen Presbyterian Church would let MABA know in January whether they will be able to accommodate the MABA Saturday jams.
The first MABA members meeting for 2007 will be held on January 4th (Thursday) at LOL. Come out and support our new officers.
