meeting to order at 7:00 pm - 14 members were present.

Newsgrass – A volunteer is needed to
distribute the newsletter
Activities: John Gay Great Pot Luck. Will
consider babysitter volunteers for next year’s Pot Luck. Woodland Presbyterian Church worked out
well. Thanks to good planning and help, the Pot Luck was under budget. SPGMA is
this week in Nashville.

Regulatory: James Johnson - James informed Board that
there are no set IRS rules on the amount of funds on hand, as long as financial
and other activities are within the nonprofit rules.
Membership:
Helen Davis No report tonight
Education: Jim Phillips will continue to encourage
workshops at homes, in addition to the workshops at LOL.
G.R.A.S.S.: Helen Davis report by Sam Ketchum. Will try to arrange one nursing home
MABA visit per month with gift bags given once per quarter. Bands are encouraged to coordinate such
activities with Helen so we can provide gift bags for residents and possibly
feature them in the Newsletter. It
was emphasized that bands going to nursing homes are not required to schedule
or inform MABA, however.
Lucy Opry: Woody Marshall reported on Lucy ticket
sales and encouraged attendance.
Dry Branch Firesquad coming on Saturday. They are usually a sell
out. Doyle Lawson is coming on Feb
13th. April is Larry
Stevenson.
Welcoming/Caring - Loyce Smith,
Jo Edith & James Hudson, Erna Wheeley
-Loyce Reviewed special needs.
New Business:
MABA Recording for July. Mike Albert & Craig
Yarbrough: Motion carried to follow
same rules, those recording will be
required to be a member. This time will
have to rent BPAC for $75.00 an hour.
Motion carried to give Mike the authority to book the BPACC. Discussed process of mixing, recording. Suggested a workshop for using microphones a week
before recording. There will be
time for sound checks before each band if at all possible. Only songs that are public domain or
original will be allowed.
Budget. Sam complimented John and Craig for negotiating such good
arrangements for DUCKS and RIVERFEST; that those festivals helped make this
good financial year possible.
Motion carried, budget adopted.
Arlington in April. April 30. Craig
proposed changes, bluegrass on main stage will have about 2 slots; everyone
else picking.
BPAC Festival. May 6 and May 7, annual BPAC Festival
will be held. Sponsors needed.
At Large Board Member. Cliff
Albright was nominated to the Board, and agreed to serve. Unanimous voted.
Charity Performance: Feb 19th 5pm. Performers needed at Raleigh UMC for
liver transplant patient fundraiser, Board voted, ok to sell MABA CDs with
proceeds to benefit this patient.
