Sam Ketchum called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Committee reports:

Total members: 250, includes 5 new members
Communications: Wayne Morris
Mike Kisner reported on bulk mailing for
Newsgrass. Bulk mailing is available as
standard bulk mail and non-profit bulk mail.
Non-profit bulk mailing does not allow ads. A motion was made and passed authorizing Mike
Kisner to begin processing the application for contract
with USPS for a bulk mailing account. A
report will be made at the August meeting on the direction we should go.
Wayne Morris and Lonnie Gaither reported that if
Newsgrass continues having ads, we might want to reconsider the rate
structure.
Newsgrass: Mark Winborn
Mark reported that Fan Williams is the new
distribution manager and Cheryl Parker is now doing graphic design and layout
for Newsgrass. Cheryl did the layout on the latest issue and
it is in a new format.
Activities: Glenn Malchow
The fall Festival is
scheduled for Saturday September 25.
A motion was made and passed to schedule the picnic
for October 16.

Regulatory: James Johnson
James reported that every
thing is fine.
Education:
Mark Winborn reported that Cliff Albright would lead
a beginning frailing/clawhammer banjo class On July 17, 2004 at the regular jam
at the Lord Of Life Lutheran Church.
G.R.A.S.S.
Craig Yarbrough reported for the committee. The next meeting is scheduled for July 10
1-3. The committee, including musicians,
is going to the Ava Marie Residential Care Facility on July 17. A group of musicians will go to the VA
Hospital on July 29.
Lucy Opry: Woody Marshall
The next Lucy Opry show will be Frank Ray and Cedar
Hill on August 7, 2004.
Welcoming/Caring
Fan Williams reported for the committee that a card
was sent to Stan Kesler.
New Business:
John Gay reported on the fall festival. It has been confirmed for Saturday, September
25 at
Craig Yarbrough reported on the Ducks Unlimited
festival. Craig reported that our participation was a success and things looked
good for next year.
Sam Ketchum reported that 18 people attended the CPR
training on June 19, 2004.
Jim Milford made a motion that the MABA Songwriter Of The Year be established to be awarded at the annual
potluck dinner and to be administered by the board of directors. The motion passed.
Sam Ketchum reported that a portion of a story from
NewsGrass appeared in the July, 2004 issue of Bluegrass Now.
Jim Phillips made a motion that 2 season tickets to
the Lucy Opry be purchased for the people working at the MABA merchandise
table. This motion passed. Craig Yarbrough was appointed to take care of
this.
