Not sure and would like to know more about MABA?

Well of course there's the picking...

Indoors...Outdoors...In a Park...You name it... Extremely Fast or Extremely Slow...For Beginners, Experts and In-Betweens...Heck you don't even have to know how to play an instrument...You just have to have a love of the music...

.

Every Saturday from Noon to 3pm there is picking at the Hope Presbyterian Church 8500 Walnut Grove Rd
Cordova, TN 38018, (901) 755-7721 (get directions)
located at Walnut Grove. A major feature of this weekly picking is the Slow Jam...a special picking session  where everything is slowed down just a bit to give the new pickers an opportunity to learn some new songs. Throughout the year there are workshops held as well as special get-togethers such as the Potluck Dinner, Spring Festivals, Picking in the Park and Picking at the Winery.

But there's more to it than picking...

There's G.R.A.S.S...Giving Rural Assistance Program...bluegrass has always meant family, friends and community...MABA through the GRASS program gives something back to the community such as an angel tree at Christmas or first-aid kits for churches or smiles for the elderly.  Your membership fee makes this possible.

There's Newsgrass...MABA has an outstanding monthly newsletter put together by editor Tom Stone and Candice Windham and you.  It covers the history of the music, the personalities of bluegrass, what is going on around the Mid-South, backgrounds of some of our members, reviews of CD's, books, and much more.  Most of the articles are provided by you the member.

There's the Yahoo Group...MABA has a Yahoo Email Group which is a form of email communications that allows members to post and receive messages within the group. Our members have fun picking at each other, hearing the latest news and it provides a quick way to communicate with all our members who join in.

There's the Kroger Card... MABA members can participate by purchasing their groceries from Kroger. MABA receives 5% of ever dollar spent on groceries which will help fund our Giving Rural Assistance, and programs for educating and entertaining the community.

Memphis Area Bluegrass Association is an exempt non-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c) (3).

Therefore we established By-Laws to provide a guideline for our present and future leadership and record our monthly business meeting minutes. Please take a moment and read to learn the importance of these documents....

The non-profit exemption means that all contributions and dues are tax deductible.

All of the above can be yours. All it takes is a love for the music, a sense of community and just $25.00 a year. Instruments are optional..
